It’s late, so today’s post will be very short. I stayed up so late because I was trying to fit in some extra work before I head in for jury duty tomorrow. I’m being called in, but I don’t know if I will actually make it into the jury pool.
I had pushed off my summons for a year. I had nearly forgotten about it until I got my reminder in the mail. I know that it is a civic duty that we all must perform, but it hits a lot harder when you are a freelancer. As a freelancer, every day that I’m not completing work that I’m on deadline for is another hour outside of the jury duty summons that I need to work to complete that deadline.
Still, it is good to participate in my community this way. If, God forbid, I ever find myself in a jury trial, I would want to have a jury of conscientious peers who also want to help out their fellow citizens.
I’ll be sure to take notes as I go to the courthouse (I have never actually been in a courthouse that I can remember) as fodder for my next blog post.
