Inktober, the daily grind

Woohoo! I’m actually finished with Inktober for 2021. Every year, I feel paralysis when I start, and I always think that there is no possible way that I can finish the task. Each year, though, I always make it through and am even pretty happy with some of the pieces.

I know that there is controversy about the official Inktober site creator, but I love the motivation to practice daily ink sketching. It helps me feel more comfortable with my drawing skills, and I definitely learn more about values and shading. Next year, I may try to do an alternative, maybe something like Drawlloween or Drawtober.

Regardless of which one I attempt, completing a month of focused sketching and drawing always reminds me about the thing I love most about art -- the constant state of learning new things about art and about myself -- my ability to stick things through and my love of learning. Though I may have wished that I had started this art journey earlier, I am so glad that I found it, and it makes me excited to get up and start each day, eager to discover something new.
